Overall score is based mainly on washing but includes energy and water use, noise, loading flexibility, and ease of use and should always be taken into consideration in choosing. The Ratings don't indicate which models have received the government's Energy Star designation because we believe our tests, reflected in the Energy use column, more accurately reflect real-life use.
