Green product watch: Energy star refrigerators
Here’s the latest news and advice on greener products, covered in the February 2010 issue of Consumer Reports.
Some Energy Star fridges use far more power than others. In our latest refrigerator tests, our engineers found that some models used a lot more energy than their EnergyGuide labels indicated.
These four fridges were way off:
• The LG LFX21975[ST] was off by about 50 percent
• The LG-made Kenmore 7973[7] was off by about 50 percent
• The Samsung RFG298AA[WP] was off by 33 percent
• The Samsung-made GE Profile PFSS9PKY[SS] was off by 39 percent
